Welcome to my Apollo website!
During the course of this year, I want to push my limits with the project ideas. I want to think big, have bold ideas, follow my passions and interest. In previous years I've been told what to do and how to do it. There were no organic ideas just basic prompts that have no meaning to me or don't spark my learning. There are however no boundaries this semester, I want to see how far I can push myself. "Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow." (by Anthony J. D'Angelo) this is one of the many quotes that makes me want to work harder and learn more.
I really enjoy this quote simply because as tough as life can be, if I put in the hard ward I can achieve anything. It's not one of those motivational quotes that stir your soul but lifts your head instead.
After reading the book Homegoing by Yaa Gaysi, I was moved in many ways and wanted to learn more about the topic. Everything is based off some aspect of this book. The separate portions of my project are to show my understanding and interest in this great novel.
Since we were never taught the history of Native Americans I took business into my own hands and learned about it myself. I focused my research specifically on my tribe, Haliwa-Saponi. The whole project was driven by my passion to learn more about my culture. The basis was the thinking skill: contextualization.
Project three took place in the month of November, Alzheimer's Awareness month, there was no better time to research and help fight this awful disease. By the end of the project, I was stuffed with information about the different way scientist think they can slow this nasty disease to how ordinary people are raising thousands of dollars every year to not only help their loved ones but everyone's loved one. Seeing this I wanted to assist I created a t-shirt to sell at school to help raise awareness.
Completely and utterly interested by the topic of eating psychology I researched the topic inside and out. Reading and watching everything I could to learn more and more about this complex topic. I also talked to a professional about her experience in the field. After reading different articles I decided to write my own.
