Project 2: My TribeDuring the two weeks, we were given for project two I researched my Native American tribe: Haliwa-Saponi. I read and wrote creation stories, created a mind map based on my research and, painted an abstract version of the mind map within the counties my tribe is located in. All of this used the main thinking skill, contextualization.

Art"Counties"
I based my art piece off of my mind map. I started off by just having Warren and Halifax County colored in with the abstract version of the mind map. I decided to add the surrounding counties to give the painting more of a map look. This also gives the person looking at it a sense of what is important: the colorful center with missing pieces. The reason there is the nude shade in the center is to represent the absence of information that I could not find on technology.

Social StudiesMind map
To start the project I did a lot of research on my tribe, with that information I wanted to represent how it all seemed to be connected in some way. I did 2 rough drafts with many revisions to them. My main starting point is my tribe: Haliwa-Saponi, branching off that I had my four sub-topics issues with the government, Halifax and Warren County, Pow-wows and Tottero and the Occanechi tribes.

EnglishCreation Myths
For English really wanted to focus on contextualization within the project so, I read creation story of the Cherokee and Apache tribes plus my own, from that I wrote the creation story of field hockey and a loose creation on Apollo. One of the standards for English was making visual aids so I have Attached them above.
