Stranger Aquaponics
The concept of this project, which I worked with my classmate Cassie to complete, was to learn about aquaponics and create our own aquaponic system and reference material based off of our learning. Along our project course, we learned quickly that 2 weeks wasn't enough time to get an aquaponic tank up and running, which forced us to deal with our time accordingly, dive deeper into research, and sort of pretend we had build a proper tank. Even though our labor didn't bear the fruit of an aquaponic system, it sure was fun to learn about and create.
English
For English, we chose to research and write a piece of the scientific journal format, showing our research and our analyzation on how to apply aquaponic technology for in a real life crisis. For this, we researched the city of New Delhi, India, and the growing food and water shortage going on in it. We analyze the benefits of aquaponics being instituted in this country, discuss how they would be possible, and then finally end with discussion and room for errors.
Social Studies
For Social Studies, we created a website, as well as a DIY tutorial based on our learning and research of building aquaponic systems, In the tutorial, there is a step by step guide on what to begin your aquaponic tank with, what to add and when to add it, and all materials you will need--even the optional ones. It is a culmination of our research on aquaponics over the length of our project.
