My first project was about the Israeli and Palestinian conflict. I really enjoyed this topic in 10th grade and I wanted to dig deeper into the conflict. I am also drawn to this topic because I am Jewish and this topic has a lot to do with our background and religious beliefs. I learned a lot of things that I never knew about both sides of the conflict and it really opened my eyes to the struggle of living through this war.

EnglishFor my English project, I wrote prayers for the Wailing Wall from the point of view of an Israeli during the attacks. I wrote them about different topics and really tried to portray the hurt and sadness. I also annotated each prayer and made an annotated bibliography to show my sources.

HistoryThe History portion connects to the English part. The prayers I wrote all correspond to a certain time when Israel was attacked in real life. I also researched the feelings of the Israeli citizens and tried to capture their real-life struggles. I then put all the prayers on a replica of the Wailing Wall.

ArtI really wanted to portray emotion in my art pieces and I thought that doing body art was one of the best ways to do that. Using a real person to show real-life emotion just made sense. I made a couple different pieces but the video shows the process of my favorite one. I wanted to show all the tears shed so I used Israeli flag colors and then wrote peace on my lips for all the talk of peace and safety.
