For my art portion, I wanted to show how the uses of art and makeup have changed over time and around the world. Therefore, I created a canvas "painting", but instead of using actual paint, I used different types of makeup. I wanted to show my passion for makeup and art, because I believe that makeup is a form of art. This piece took me forever, because I started over about twice and I was having trouble trying to fix my errors. When I did it the first time, it it was only the eyes and they weren't properly spaced to how a face should be. After this mishap, I put gesso on top of, let it dry, and started over again. This time, I sketched it out first with I template I printed out, and made sure everything was properly spaced. Originally, I wanted to show just the eyes, but after speaking to a teacher, I decided to a full face outline in a way. I was pretty happy with my final product, and even though i didn't necessarily like starting over again, it added something more exciting to the work process.
For my English portion, I used elements of propaganda to make a sales pitch to sell my own makeup brand. Based on the popular television show, Shark Tank, I took a poll of what peers preferences are, and I made a pie chart to show which choice was more popular. To make my tri-fold display board look more fancy shmancy, I put the equity percentage, when I barely have a clue what equity even means. As a final product, it looked a bit underwhelming because it just had a bunch of documents that were pasted on with construction paper. I wanted to have all 3 projects relate to the same thing, but completely different aspects of makeup.
For my Social Studies portion, I combined looks from different eras, and combines 8 different time periods/ places to make 4 different looks. This first one is a combination of the 1970's and 1940's . The sculpted face and smaller brows are aspects of the 1940's and the nude lips with gloss and bright eyes were big during the 1970's.
This look is a combination of the 1980's and 2017. The paler face and pink gloss are from the 1980's while the on-fleek brows and smoky eye are from 2017.
This look is a combination of the 1920's and 1950's. The darker eyes and red lips were trending during the 1920's while the brighter complexion and sparse eyebrows were seen more during the 1970's
This final look is a combination of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. The peachy glow and higher brows was worn by women in Greece while the extended eyeliner and neutral ,shiny lips are Egyptian.
