Project 1My first project was about the prohibition, and how people had different views on alcohol. I wrote a poem from the perspective of a bottle of wine, trying to connect feelings to an inanimate object.
EnglishFor the English portion I made a poem from the perspective of a wine bottle being used so quickly then thrown away. As if the wine bottle was a person being used then left alone.
Party time
Like an open road at two in the morning, this is who I am The uncomfortable silence echoes through me As if I’m passed around, used and inevitably unwanted No longer with purpose and void of meaning, doing what I can Every bottle will feel the same at some point in time In the spotlight the world wants the magical liquid Until there is none Thrown away, to never be wanted again To feel included just for a moment, a minute, a second, a sip Cracked into pieces and scattered about Broken beyond repair Nobody can help Too far gone Too damaged to even be empty |
ArtI sorted corks into red, white, and colored bins, which took about a day and a half to do. I then got a picture of America and the states and used the projector to make sure the states were precise. I then found a website that showed all of the wineries in the US. I then used the previously sorted corks to show where the wineries are by using the red corks. I then cut out tempered service board to border the corks, and to make it look nicer.

For the art portion I made a map of the USA. I then put corks on the map, the red corks are wineries in the US. The white corks are not wineries/open space. I separated the states by a gap and cork dust in between to show the state lines, and also so you could see the wineries in the state.
HistoryFor my history portion I researched the prohibition era. I used an old wine bottle and made a label, on the label was lyrics to a song made in the 1920's. I then filled the bottle with quotes from famous prohibition activists.
