My second project was for African/African Americans. I found this project to the most interesting. It was cool for me to research about African American history
What I did for history.. So right now confederate monuments are a really controversy. Most confederate monuments are of confederate soldiers who died in the civil war. I look at both sides to the story and saw that some people felt as if the monuments were apart of their history and should not be taken down and others feel as though the statues were hurtful to see and almost threatening to them and African Americans from slavery time. So to go along with my African American theme I decided to find historical figures in the African American/African community to replace the statues with. I research people who would be a good replacement and with all this research I put it into a Weebly.
What I did for English: For English I decided to write a poem. But, to add in the theme African/African Americans I was given three African American women who are poets. I looked and analyzed how the poets wrote and with that I added a little of their style of writing to my poem. My poem "Little Black Girl" is on the webbly link above.
What I did for Art: Art for me was kind of connected with history. So to piggy back of the getting rid of the confederate statues I basically wrote down who I was going change the monument with and what I would have the monument look like. On the weebly site you"ll see that a few of the new statues aren't just of the person. Its more of symbolic.
I did a mind map connecting all Art, Intellectual and Social to African American people. In my mind map all things fit perfectly and connect easily.
