My Exploration of Medieval Heraldry
For my first project in the Apollo program I decided to research medieval heraldry, and how it was used in everyday life. Along with this research, I built and painted a custom shield with my own personal coat of arms. I designed the coat to be historically accurate to the mid-middle ages. For the history portion, I explained the historical symbolism behind the design features in my coat of arms.
In addition to creating and explaining the shield and coat of arms, I also read the Miller's Tale portion of the Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer. I then examined various words from the time period and analyzed their etymology, looking at how the words evolved throughout history.

My Thoughts
Overall, I enjoyed having the freedom to design and carry out my own project. With help from the teachers, I was able to from my research and own ides into a product that s truly mine. It was a great experience and I am looking forward to my next project.
