Leaving Something Behind
Using the responses from the questions that were asked (you can view them below), we analyzed the responses and extracted quotes from them. The quotes extracted were then written on the back of the polaroids. The purpose was to allow the students to look at the pictures when in need of motivation and can flip the picture over to read a quote that previous students or administration had said.

We wanted to recreate a style similar to one of Mount Rushmore, using similar structure and painting style. We took three teachers, all individuals and separate in many ways that birthed and grew a new foundation in the school for learning that challenges the traditional forms of education. This is much like how the presidents chosen had started, grew and developed a nation that is none other than any other country in this world.

We wanted to use a famous document as the foundation of creating our own Preamble and Bill of Rights. We used the document, analyzed each line, and used that to create our own version of the Constitution. This establishes that each student that takes the course will be remembered by their signature on the printed document.

In order to hear the voices of our peers, we wanted to reach out to the community and ask these specific questions. We reached out to the administration of the school and the students who took the course or are taking it currently. These questions were meant to evoke deep, detailed answers that would help us see what Apollo means to them as an individual. Reaching out to the administration allowed us to see if they view the program as flourishing as the students feel it is.
The Process of Painting |
Here you will see the comments and notes we left after analyzing the Preamble and the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution. We broke down each line, for the most part, and elaborated what the writers would have meant by this. The Constitution was meant for educated and scholarly readers so the words chosen would have been fairly difficult to comprehend today. That drove us to break down and examine each line and each amendment in the Bill of Rights. This lead to the creation of our own Constitution.
