My name is Bella Sweeney. At first, I didn't think Apollo would be for me. After one of the teachers came up to me and told me all about it, I was in. He described it as a creative way to go about school. My thing is playing the guitar and making art. He said I could incorporate both of those things into Apollo. Now, in my projects, I put both of those things into my work everyday, and I've never loved school more.
Project 1
My first project was about psychedelic drugs and how they affected musicians and people in the 60s and 70s.
I wrote an article about Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd and how he lost his mind after taking many trips on acid.
For the art portion of my project, I painted a large photo of Syd Barrett with the text "I've got a very irregular head. And I'm not anything you think I am anyways." This is what he said about himself, and I think that piece of text really supported my idea about how psychedelic drugs can change someone's life whether or not they think it will.
Art
The top photo of Syd Barrett is the finished product. First I had sketched out Syd, which is shown directly above by the unfinished product. It took about a week to finish this.
English & History
For the English and as well as history aspect of my project, I made a fake article about Syd Barrett and his life. It started out him as a musician with Pink Floyd trying to make his way, and ended with him struggling to write songs or perform on stage.
