For my second project I decided to focus on the Christian church and compare what it looks like today to what it looked like when Martin Luther started the Protestant reformation. During the 16th century, the Catholic Church was practicing things that were not biblical such as indulgences, and executing people for praying in their native language instead of Latin. Martin Luther saw this and tried to create a church that strayed from this corruption, but I believe today we have a church not much different from the one of that time. As an aspiring missionary I know it is vital for me to know what the church of Christ should look like and how it should act based on the Bible, since I very well may be planting churches myself. I based my studies off of what God wants from his church instead of the humanistic ways of religion.

EnglishI used English as a way to organize all of my research to create a message. My goal through this project was to bring attention to to changes needed to be made in the church today, and my words were the best way to do that. I wrote an essay explaining how the church has changed and grown and what the Bible has to say about these changes. As a Christian myself, I want us to always strive to be the best we can; seeing our issues, and trying to fix them. I felt I was able to clearly get this message across in my essay.

ArtWhen comparing the Church from medieval times to today's age, one of the biggest differences is the Bible. Through the years the Bible has developed and been translated, greatly influencing the church. I decided to show this development by writing Matthew 27:27 in Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and German. I ended with German as this was the accomplishment of Martin Luther which then lead to the translation of the bible in hundreds of other languages.

HistoryIn order to relate Martin Luther to American history, I took Martin Luther out of the context of the 16th century, and placed him into the current society of America. I theorized what things he would try to reform in the Protestant church today, based off of his beliefs and convictions of the Catholic church. I also researched the most common beliefs of the Protestant church, along with statistics on the daily practices of most believers.
